Environmental Responsibility Policy

It is the general policy of Johnny Pixel Productions to conduct business in a manner that fulfills its fiscal responsibilities while also being sensitive to and responsible for the greater community in which the company exists. To that end, specific Responsibility Policies will be published that clarify the intent and position of the company with respect to specific goals relevant to that greater community. While these policies do not create a binding contract, they are intended to serve as an informative guide for employees, shareholders, clients, vendors, and the general public.

To ensure that the company is sensitive to environmental concerns, the following policies have been adopted. These policies may change at any time as additional opportunities are identified or as specific challenges arise.

Recycling & Waste Management

In all areas of business operations, Johnny Pixel Productions will seek to maximize its participation in the life-cycle of recycled and recyclable products and materials. This includes, but is not limited to, purchasing recycled products where doing so is economically feasible; encouraging the re-use and recycling of materials by employees, vendors, clients, and other related parties; and, producing video, audio, and other media projects that promote re-use and recycling to the general public.

Material waste will be minimized, and environmentally-sensitive disposal methods will be used for waste that is generated. For example, rechargeable batteries that have reached the end of their usable life will be delivered to an organization that handles recycling of batteries, instead of discarding the batteries in the trash where they pose a contamination hazard. Alternatively, compost-suitable waste, including shredded paper, will be composted when opportunities exist.

Use of Energy and Natural Resources

Energy-using equipment will be turned off when not in use. Physical resource consumption will minimized through efficient practices and policies. For example, paper consumption can be limited by appropriate use of "print preview" functions and using electronic documentation where paper documentation is not required. By maximizing overall efficiency, use of energy and natural resources will be minimized.

Local Sourcing

Transportation of products can consume substantial energy and produce problematic pollution. Therefore, whenever possible, locally-sourced products will be preferred over products that require extensive transportation.

Site-Specific Impact

When staff members are in a natural setting on official business, including video productions as well as company-sponsored events, all staff will be instructed to minimize their impact on the site. When appropriate, Leave No Trace principles will serve as a guideline.
